NACCHO awarded funding to 69 local health departments (LHD), healthcare providers, hospitals, community-based organizations (CBO), and coalitions across the nation. Each grant recipient will implement an evidence-based or innovative breastfeeding program at the community level, specifically focused on peer and professional lactation support to breastfeeding mothers in predominantly African American and underserved communities. Grantees will increase community capacity to develop and maintain public health partnerships critical to building community support for breastfeeding.
